Social Impact Enterprise and Business Chair

The Chair, which is supported by Dr. Emmanuel Pic, aims to offer students, businesses and society the opportunity to build economic activities and reliable and sustainable alternatives. These respond to a social, societal and / or environmental need, for a more human, more sustainable and more inclusive economy. It thus provides unique and co-created solutions to the fragility of the territory. It wants to achieve these objectives through awareness and training, research and support for the creation of social business enterprises. It brings together researchers from different entities of the Catholic University of Lille: Faculty of Management, Economics and Sciences, EDHEC, Iéseg, ICAM, IES, Yncréa, the ETHICS Laboratory.

The Chair was created by the Catholic University of Lille as part of the regional initiative SoBizHub. Its mission is to offer students, companies and society the opportunity to build economic activities and reliable and sustainable alternatives, which meet a social, societal and / or environmental need, for a more human, more sustainable economy and more inclusive. In order to achieve its mission, it acts on three fronts: awareness and training; incubation and support; research. The Chair is funded by McCain, Ramery, Meert and UCL’s own resources.

            > Awareness and training

The Chair allows students and trainees in continuing education (employees, job seekers, etc.) to become creators of businesses and social business activities, by raising awareness, training up to the creation and business incubation. The objective is to support 500 students each year

            > Research

Research within the Chair focuses on three axes:

  1. Analysis of the dynamics of (co-) creation of social business;
  2. Assessment of management practices within social business activities;
  3. The social impact of social business organizations.

The researchers of the Chair are involved in national and international research projects. The research work of the Chair has been the subject of publications and presentations at conferences in France and abroad.
